Many Professional Staff Union retirees have a Medicare Part "B" reimbursement from OEA as part of their contractual retirement benefits. However, the amount of the reimbursement varies depending on when you retired. In accordance with the contract under which you retired you are eligible for Medicare Part "B' reimbursement payments beginning at age 65. For all employees retiring prior to 9/1/2012 the maximum benefit is 100%. For all PSU employees retiring after 9/1/2012 the maximum monthly reimbursement is capped at $175.00. For all management employees retiring after 9/01/2012 and before 9/01/2016 the monthly maximum reimbursement is capped at $125.00. For all management employees retiring after 9/01/2016 the monthly maximum reimbursement is capped at $175.00. As always please read the contract under which you retied to understand all the benefits that you are entitled.
OEA has developed a form for reimbursement. The form has not been negotiated with anyone and should be considered only as an OEA internal processing form. CORE members have had several issues with the form and CORE continues to work with OEA to deal with the issue. The form is attached below, and it allows for reimbursement on a quarterly or annual basis. The dates on the form for submission to OEA were unilaterally established by OEA. While CORE does not believe that OEA has that authority, be aware that you need to file the form for reimbursement in accordance with those dates in order to avoid possible denial by OEA,
SPECIAL NOTE!
OEA is now allowing an electronic submission of the Medicare Part 'B' Reimbursement form. Dave Hill of OEA processes the form and retirees may scan the form in and submit it electronically to him at hilld@ohea.org.
